Finca Can Marti History

Welcome to Finca Can Marti

A timeless sanctuary

A history of almost 400 years

The history of Finca Can Marti goes back nearly 400 years when the characteristic whitewashed main house was built. For generations, the land was carefully maintained with respect for nature, which has always played a leading role. In 1992, Isabelle and Peter Brantschen discovered this authentic Ibicencan finca and immediately fell in love with its charm and untouched beauty. With a vision to create a sustainable retreat, they began a thorough renovation of the 400-year-old buildings, using only bio-construction materials to preserve their original charm.

After 25 years of dedication, step-by-step restoration, and enduring dedication, Finca Can Marti evolved naturally from a family home to simple guest rooms and finally to the eco-hotel it is today. Today, their son Tom Brantschen, together with his family, lives at the finca and ensures that everything runs smoothly, continuing the legacy of sustainability and hospitality.

A commitment to sustainability

Since its opening as one of Ibiza’s first agroturismos in 1997, ecological principles have been at the heart of everything we do. Solar panels provide most of the finca’s energy, rainwater is collected and reused for irrigation, and all wastewater is filtered and repurposed to nurture the land. Only eco-friendly cleaning products are used, and the organic farm produces fresh fruits and vegetables that find their way to our guests’ tables as well as in our on-site organic farm shop

A natural retreat

Nestled in an 18-hectare green valley, surrounded by stone terraces, olive groves, and pine forests, Finca Can Marti is a haven of tranquility. Here, nature and tradition harmonize effortlessly: our donkeys help maintain the land, free-range chickens provide fresh eggs, and our all-natural swimming pond offers a place for complete relaxation. Guests can join daily yoga sessions, indulge in wellness treatments, or explore the lush surroundings on foot or by bicycle.

The perfect location – close to villages and beaches

Though Finca Can Marti feels like a secluded paradise, it is just a ten-minute walk from the charming village of San Juan. Visitors can explore local boutiques, a supermarket, and authentic restaurants offering everything from sophisticated dishes to traditional Ibicencan fare. Every Sunday, the lively mercadillo de San Juan fills the village with music, handmade goods, and delicious organic food.

The finca is also ideally positioned near Ibiza’s most pristine beaches, just a five-minute drive away. Guests can take a scenic 45-minute walk along traditional countryside paths to reach the coastline, immersing themselves in the island’s natural beauty along the way.

From family farm to boutique hotel

What began as a traditional family farm has organically grown into a boutique hotel that embodies sustainability, authenticity, and tranquility. Thanks to the dedication and passion of the Brantschen family, now continued by Tom Brantschen and his family, Finca Can Marti has become an exclusive retreat where guests can experience a seamless blend of luxury, nature, and ecological awareness. Here, history is tangible, and nature remains at the heart of the experience. We warmly welcome you to Finca Can Marti, where your journey towards relaxation and connection with nature begins.
